Clay by Dannah
I love unique, handmade items. Over the years, I’ve worked with talented artisans from various cultural backgrounds and discovered the beauty and value to be found in handcrafted pieces. This revelation sparked the idea of creating my own path and my own line of design. Ceramics have been my passion since I was very young—the smell, the touch, the texture. I also love creating in three dimensions, feeling the clay take shape under my hands. My shop isn't just a business; it's a celebration of making lowly clay into art.
As a modern handmade ceramics artist, my work is influenced and inspired by Zen Buddhism’s “here and now” philosophy. I draw inspiration from the seeming imperfectness of nature and the beauty of organic lines. This philosophy allows me to design and create contemporary ceramics and pottery that are both simple and complex at the same time. Each piece is a reflection of a moment captured in time, infused with a sense of calm and mindfulness. The tactile experience of working with clay, the way it responds to touch, and the transformation through fire are all integral to my creative process.
Nature is a constant source of inspiration, providing endless patterns, textures, and forms to incorporate into my ceramics. The subtle changes in seasons, the intricate details of leaves, flowers, and landscapes all find their way into my creations. Additionally, the clean lines and organic shapes found in nature complement the minimalist aesthetic that I strive for in my work.
Furthermore, the process of creating ceramics itself is deeply meditative. The repetitive motions of molding and shaping the clay, the careful attention to detail, and the patience required for the firing process—all these aspects resonate with the principles of mindfulness and being present in the moment. This meditative quality of working with clay is something I hope to pass on to those who use my ceramics, bringing a sense of calm and beauty into their everyday lives.

My identity as an Israeli woman deeply inspires my ceramics. Growing up in Israel, surrounded by history, diverse cultures, and stunning landscapes, profoundly influenced my artistic vision. My designs blend ancient traditions with Zen Buddhism's 'here and now,' reflecting the coexistence of history and modernity in Israel. My ceramics, with earthy tones and tree decals, embody the Israeli landscape's rustic beauty and symbolize growth and resilience. Each piece connects my cultural heritage and personal experiences with my customers.
